3 Coast Guard ships ready to evacuate Lanao residents
MANILA, Philippines –The Coast Guard has readied three ships to help the military evacuate residents of Lanao del Norte province and other areas that may be attacked by breakaway rebels of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). According to Coast Guard chief Vice Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo, the three ships could leave at any time, once they are needed, Radio dzXL reported Monday evening that The ships are the BRP Pampanga, BRP Batangas, and BRP Nueva Vizcaya, all of which are search-and-rescue vessels. Tamayo also ordered the Coast Guard to monitor ships from Mindanao for suspicious passengers or cargo, and instructed the Coast Guard's anti-terror unit to remain on alert. - GMANews.TV
