American national found dead inside hotel room

MANILA, Philippines - A 48-year-old American national was found dead inside his hotel room in Makati City on Thursday morning. Makati police chief Superintendent Gilbert Cruz identified the victim as Marvin Leroy Toms Jr, whose body was found by his girlfriend inside Room 1727 of the City Garden Hotel located along 7870 Makati Avenue around 11:50 a.m. Investigation showed that the victim's body was discovered when his girlfriend, identified as Marissa Dugodugo decided to check on him after her calls went unanswered. After the discovery of the body, hotel staff brought the victim to the Makati Medical Center but was declared dead upon arrival by attending physician Dra. Maria Luisa Quinones. The victim's body was subjected to an autopsy to determine the cause of his death. Police said they are not ruling out foul play, even as it said the victim's body bore no injuries when discovered. It said an investigation into the case remains ongoing. Cruz said they have already asked the hotel management to provide them the record of their close circuit television (CCTV) to help them in the probe. The official also said they are in close coordination with the US Embassy in Manila for the repatriation of the victim's body. - GMANews.TV
