State teachers to press for pay hike

MANILA, Philippines - The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) will hold a rally next month to press for the approval of public school teachers’ P9,000 salary hike. In an interview, ACT president Antonio Tinio said public school teachers should participate in the October 6 rally at the Batasan Complex because the action is for their benefit. He said they hope lawmakers would listen to them and pass pending legislations for teachers pay hike. Tinio also blasted the Department of Education officials for wasting millions of pesos for the acquisition of the multi-media packages. He said the money should have been used to boost teachers’ welfare. - GMANews.TV
