No long weekend for All Saints' Day - Palace
MANILA, Philippines - There will be no long weekend for the public despite the celebration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day this coming Saturday and Sunday. This, as Malacañang ruled out any possibility of declaring either October 31 (Friday) or November 3 (Monday) a non-working holiday. "No, it will not be declared a holiday. October 31st is a Friday. Not even November 3, which is a Monday since the holiday is November 1, Saturday," Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said Wednesday. Ermita however said it will be up to the discretion of government agencies and private firms if they will suspend their operations by noon of Oct. 31 to give more time for their employees, especially those who are going to the provinces, to prepare for the said holiday celebrations. - GMANews.TV
