General Santos City readies grand welcome for Pacquiao

MANILA, Philippines - With the latest conquest of their favorite son, residents of General Santos City have started preparations for a grand welcome for Filipino boxing champ Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao. Radio dzBB reported that city Mayor Pedro Acharon Jr promised a "grand" welcome for Pacquiao upon his return to the country from the United States. Acharon said they will also make Pacquiao's 30th birthday an unforgettable one. The mayor watched Pacquiao pummel Oscar De La Hoya at the city gymnasium, along with Rep. Darlene Custodio, who knocked out Pacquiao in the 2007 congressional elections. Pacquiao is due to return to the Philippines before dawn Wednesday. - GMANews.TV
