Rodents attack rice farm in Albay province

MANILA, Philippines – Farmers in a 90-hectare farm in Libon town in Albay declared an all-out war against rodents that infested their rice fields, a television report said Friday. GMA primetime news 24 Oras reported that the farmers there fear the infestation - if not addressed immediately - could result in rice shortage in the town. Video footage showed farmers mercilessly catching and killing and even cooking the rodents. According to the report, doctors in Libon have warned the farmers against eating the rats as these may be unsafe for human consumption. - Fidel Jimenez, GMANews.TV
