Failon's clothes tested negative for gunpowder residue
MANILA, Philippines – The clothes broadcaster Ted Failon was wearing when his wife was shot last April 15 tested negative for gunpowder residue, government agents said Thursday. But the clothes would have to undergo more tests, according to GMA News’ John Consulta, quoting the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). In his report on “24 Oras," Consulta said blood were found on the right side of shirt of Failon, who rushed her wife, Trinidad Arteche Etong, to the New Era General Hospital after finding her in their home with a gunshot wound on her head. Mrs. Etong died at the hospital the next day due to cranial injury. NBI spokesman Ricardo Diaz however said it is still early to arrive at any conclusion, noting that psychologists are still conducting interviews to determine what took place before the shooting incident. “Sa ngayon wala pa tayong ano mang conclusion hanggang wala pang report ang lahat ng mga criminalistics na hinihintay natin, at wala pang final report ang ating imbestigador," Diaz said. [As of now we still do not have any conclusion. We will still wait for the reports. We have yet to obtain the final report from our investigators.] Diaz also said that they are still examining Etong’s letter of apology to determine if it was indeed her hand writing. The NBI had earlier said that their investigation is leaning toward suicide, but added that the investigation is not yet over to completely rule out the possibility of a foul play. - Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV
