Baseball Philippines: Batangas aims for 7th win; junior action begins
MANILA, Philippines – The Batangas Bulls would try to stretch its winning run to seven games as they face Manila in Baseball Philippines Series 5 at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium. The Bulls and the Sharks duel at 7:00 am followed by the Dumaguete-Forward Taguig contest at 10:30 a.m. Meanwhile, the country’s premier baseball league brings its act to Muntinlupa City with Cebu clashing with Alabang at the Alabang Country Club at 10:30 am, the first time that games will be held outside of the Rizal Baseball Stadium. The Junior Baseball Philippines (JBP), featuring players aged 14-18, also makes its inaugural games Saturday at the Rizal baseball and Alabang fields. The Cagayan Carabaos will mix it up with the Alabang Tigers in Alabang at 2:00 p.m., while the Marikina Indians take on the Quezon City Angels at the Rizal Stadium, also at 2:00 p.m. The defending champion Dolphins suffered their first setback last Saturday losing to the Sharks, 3-1, with their return match last Sunday suspended due to the three-hour limit with both teams tied at 9-all at the end of regulation. The Tigers hope to bounce back from back-to-back lopsided setbacks to the Unibikers (12-3 and 13-3) last week with a victory against the Dolphins on their turf. – GMANews.TV Standings W L Batangas 6 0 Manila 4 1 Cebu 3 1 Dumaguete 2 3 Alabang 1 5 Taguig 0 6 Games Saturday 7:00 a.m. – Batangas vs Manila 10:30 a.m. – Dumaguete vs Taguig 2:00 p.m. – Marikina vs Quezon City (Junior) (Alabang Country Club) 10:30 a.m. – Cebu vs Alabang 2:00 p.m. – Cagayan vs Alabang (Junior)
