DFA inaugurates consular office in Cotabato City
Now that a consular office has been opened in Cotabato City, residents of central Mindanao need not go anymore to Davao City or Cagayan De Oro for consular services. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement on Thursday that it inaugurated the new Regional Consular Office (RCO) in Cotabato City last August 6. “Located at the People’s Palace, Cotabato City Hall, the RCO will be fully staffed and equipped and will extend the full range of consular services such as passport processing and issuance, authentication services and visa processing, among others," the statement said. DFA Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Domingo Lucenario Jr. represented DFA Secretary Alberto Romulo at the event attended by officials led by Cotabato City Mayor Muslimin Sema. Lucenario promised immediate consular and other DFA services to the residents of Cotabato City and other outlying areas, and expressed the DFA’s appreciation for the city government’s support. Sema expressed his appreciation for the DFA’s prompt response to their request on devolving the DFA services to benefit citizens of Cotabato and nearby areas who had spent a lot of time and money in traveling to RCO Davao to obtain consular services. - GMANews.TV
