Singaporean arrested at NAIA for shabu possession
The spokesman for the Philippine National Police said a 36-year-old Singaporean national was arrested Thursday afternoon for alleged possession of four kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu. The suspect, identified as one Soa Kiam Hwee, had just arrived in the Philippines from Thailand at 1:45 p.m. when accosted, said Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. in a text message sent to reporters Friday. Cruz said that during the manual baggage inspection at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1, the suspect’s handbag yielded the illegal drugs wrapped in a transparent plastic bag. Also seized from the suspect were P13,560; 15,960 Thai baht; 100 Taiwan dollar; 42,000 Indonesian rupiah; and 70 Singapore dollar. Customs police officers turned over the suspect and the seized items to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for proper disposition. with Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMANews.TV
