Cebu, Mandaue cities under state of calamity

Cebu and Mandaue Cities in Cebu province were placed under a state of calamity over the weekend, after heavy rains triggered flash floods early this week. Radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate on Saturday reported the cities’ councils approved separate resolutions declaring a state of calamity. The declaration would allow the two cities' authorities to gain access to calamity funds. On the other hand, both cities agreed to help each other address problems caused by floods, including relocating residents in flood-prone areas.
