Pope John Paul II museum in Bacolod to be inaugurated Feb. 20
A museum of “life and love" in honor of the late Pope John Paul II (JP II)in Bacolod City will be inaugurated on February 20 to mark the 30th anniversary of his visit to the Bacolod diocese. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra will lead the blessing and inauguration of the museum. The blessing of the museum will be at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, followed by a Mass at the San Sebastian Cathedral at 10:00 a.m., the CBCP said on its news site. San Sebastian Cathedral rector Fr. Felix Pasquin, head of the management group of the JP II Tower, said the museum hopes to “refresh the people’s memory of John Paul II’s visit to Bacolod" and to deepen people’s “awareness of Pope John Paul II’s life and advocacies." He said the late pope was an advocate of the culture of life and the sanctity of family life and marriage. Open to the public, the museum contains photographs and memorabilia of the late pope’s visit to Bacolod and Negros Island. The other activities commemorating the pope’s visit is a Triduum of Masses to be celebrated at the Cathedral from February 17 to 19 at 5:00 p.m. The Masses will be sponsored by:
