Celdran asks followers: What do you want for the country?
A ‘flood’ of tweets and comments gushed through Twitter and Facebook Wednesday after culture tour guide and Reproductive Health bill advocate Carlos Celdran asked his nearly 105,000 followers on Twitter and 25,000 friends on Facebook a few questions, including one about their hopes for the Philippines. “Just passed the 105,000 followers mark on twitter. Seriously. Who ARE you? Where are you? What do you do & What do you want for the Philippines?" Celdran posted on his Facebook and Twitter pages Wednesday evening. Celdran’s simple query caught the attention of many netizens, who soon replied with their own dreams and aspirations for the country.
Notably, a lot of the tweets were pro-Reproductive Health Bill. Celdran is a known supporter of the measure, and even got into trouble October last year for disrupting a public gathering inside the Manila Cathedral while dressed as Filipino national hero Jose Rizal. The feisty RH bill advocate also drew flak from some Twitter users who were annoyed because of Celdran’s constant retweets. “F*cking nonsense flooding from @carlosceldran. Thank you," said @moonwalkerwizzz. Celdran retweeted the comment, prompting television VJ and reality star Sanya Smith to tweet, “I love how @carlosceldran RT's haters haha..we need more people like you :)." He was, however, quick to apologize to some followers for the flooding. The spur of tweets also beckoned TV host Daphne Osena Paez to tease Celdran. “Do I smell Senator Carlos Celdran?" she asked on Facebook. Celdran promptly replied, “No. You smell a little bleach and perhaps some leftover chicken. :o)." An hour or so after first posting the questions, Celdran called it a night and said that he was gladdened by the responses he got. “[I’m] going to bed happy. If you are on twitter, type ‘@carlosceldran’ on the search bar and just LOOK at the profiles of all the amazing Filipino dreamers we have out there. There is hope, Philippines. And a lot of it," he said. — With Bea Cupin/ELR/VS, GMA News Tags: carlosceldran
