A fake photo posted by the government on Facebook has triggered one of the most viral and entertaining memes in recent memory. Posted below are a selection of some of the more amusing ones that depict three pensive public works officials in various absurd situations, all in the spirit of Pinoy humor and creativity.

This bit of comic relief began when storm-ravaged Manila was picking up the pieces after Typhoon Pedring. We hasten to add that the three officials were actually at the site on Roxas Blvd., the original manipulated photograph was taken down soon after it was exposed as fake, the DPWH apologized for it, and the overzealous DPWH staffer was punished. The original deed lives on in these memes, defined here as an idea or image that morphs into creative variations as it spreads on the Internet. - HS, GMA News
