CPP: Hong Kong lawmaker to drum up support for Joma
A Hong Kong lawmaker has vowed to drum up support for Jose Maria Sison, who is facing murder charges in The Netherlands in connection with the killing of two former communist leaders in the Philippines. In a statement posted on its website, the Communist Party of the Philippines said Leung Kwok Hung made such promise after meeting Sison at the National Democratic Front office in Utrecht earlier this week. Leung, also known as "Long Hair," is in Europe in connection with the Inter-Parliamentary Union assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. He is a member of the radical socialist group April Fifth Action. He sits in the Hong Kong legislature as a member of the powerful Finance and House Committees. He also sits as a member of the Legislative Panels on Constitutional Affairs, Housing, Manpower, Transport, and on Welfare Services. Sison faces charges in The Netherlands for allegedly ordering the killing of former communist leaders Romulo Kintanar in 2003 and Arturo Tabara in 2004. Dutch police arrested Sison last Aug. 28 August, and raided his house, the NDFP office and the homes of five NDFP negotiating panel members and staff members. He was kept in solitary confinement and underwent intense interrogation but a court ordered him released last Sept. 13. - GMANews.TV
