Government troops arrive in Makati
(Updated 2 p.m.) A phalanx of armed military troops and several armored personnel carriers arrived at the Makati central business district as tensions mounted after Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and Brigadier Gen. Danilo Lim walked out of coup d'etat hearing. QTV Balitanghali said the troops were awaiting orders from their superiors and were even smiling and joking amongst themselves. Trillanes, Lim, former Vice President Teofisto Guingona Jr and other key personalities were now at the Manila Peninsula hotel also in Makati City. As this developed, the Armed Forces Southern Luzon Command was preparing to serve as an augmentation force to the troops already sent to Makati. "We are preparing our forces to reinforce the NCR (National Capital Region) command as instructed by (military chief Hermogenes Esperon Jr)," said Maj. Randolph Cabangbang, SolCom spokesman. He added that, "We have also activated all our checkpoints to manila to prevent third forces from taking advantage of the situation by conducting sabotage and terror activities." - GMANews.TV
