Magnitude-5.3 quake rocks Mindoro


MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude-5.3 quake rocked Mindoro Occidental province in Southern Luzon before dawn Sunday, but state seismologists reported no damage caused so far. Radio dzRH reported that the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was recorded at 4:04 a.m. northwest of Mamburao town in Mindoro Occidental. Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum Jr said the quake was tectonic in origin and was felt at Intensity IV in Lubang Island, and at Intensity II in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan province. On the other hand, the United States Geological Service (USGS) said the quake measured at magnitude 5 and traced the epicenter 20 km west-southwest of Batangas province. It said the epicenter was also 45 km northwest of of Calapan, 105 km south of Manila, or 145 km south-southeast of Olongapo City in Zambales province. - GMANews.TV
